Info
Cyprien Semayne is a French violist trained at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid and then at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne, Sion campus. He studied with Diemut Poppen, Jonathan Brown and Corinne Contardo, while also working with Heime Müller as part of his string quartet training.
Throughout his studies he has built a steady career as a chamber musician, an activity that remains central to his artistic path. He performs across Europe alongside artists such as Andrey Baranov, Kirill Troussov, Veriko Tchumburidze, Dmitri Smirnov, Bartek Nizioł, Aurélienne Brauner, Patrick Demenga, Thomas Grossenbacher and Christoph Croisé.
Alongside his chamber music work, he is regularly principal viola with ensembles such as the Opéra du Rhône, the Beyond Modern Orchestra, the YES Orchestra, the Concerts du Cœur and the Camerata Résonnance. He is also invited to take part in projects in France, Switzerland and Germany, ranging from the classical repertoire to contemporary creations and more cross-disciplinary concert formats.
His career reflects a curious musician, open to the many forms of ensemble playing, with solid experience in both chamber music and orchestral repertoire.
